Publishing Policy
Overall Policy on Contributions to Egyptian American Society of Houston Portal
Welcome to the Egyptian American Society of Houston portal.
This website encourages visitors to join our community through sharing, interaction, comments, referendums, opinion polls, images, video/audio files, caricatures, and other contributions throughout the site. EAS’s team is pleased to publish contributions according to a general policy that guarantees the ability of the website to provide services to all readers and users.
We note at this point that user contributions are subject to pre-publishing review, but not editing or correction. Therefore, anything published expresses the opinion of the user and not EAS. Contributions that breach the terms of use below will be blocked. Interactive sharing is only permissible for registered members. Registration is free and available for all users. Only a verified e-mail address is required.
Terms of use:
Instigation of violence or bigotry: No contributions will be accepted that use threatening language against other participants, the paper’s editors, or the website’s administration. Instigation of bigotry or hatred against specific individuals or groups based on ethnicity, religion, gender, age, ability, or other aspect of identity will not be permitted.
Promotional contributions: Protecting the website is all of our responsibility. Promotional content includes contributions that aim to promote a specific product or commercial service irrelevant to the subject, intentional repetition of the same content, and content that hinders the operation of the website. You are invited to report any contributions that breach these protocols, but do not misuse the reporting system. Do not use it to block participation in the portal. Abuse of the reporting system will cause the abuser’s membership to be suspended.
Obscenity: Contributions that contain nudity, licentious invitations, and messages including indecent language and insults will not be allowed. Lewd or inappropriate usernames will not be tolerated.
Impersonation: It is not acceptable to impersonate other users, either by using their EAS account or by signing in with their names. Users may not in any way convince other visitors that they are anyone other than themselves.
Personal information: Users’ personal information is not allowed to be posted, such as credit card numbers, ID numbers, phone numbers, and home addresses. These measures are designed for users’ safety.
EAS portal is your community. Help it flourish:
* Make sure that your contribution is relevant to the subject discussed. Irrelevant comments might be blocked.
* Make sure not to post contents similar to what has been published by other users. Our goal is to reach a fruitful dialogue between users. Read other comments before adding your own, so as to be useful for others.
* Post contributions in Arabic and English so they are comprehensible to others.
* Do not post content that violates copyright law.
Publishing rights and intellectual property:
By sending contributions to EAS, you acknowledge:
– Your contributions are your authentic creation, you own the right to display them, and you allow EAS to publish them either on the website, on the printed edition, or any other media by the organization.
– Your contributions do not insult any person.
– Your contributions do not breach any law.
The website bars any material that damages other people’s reputation, as well as any material with the purpose of defamation and extortion, or those with breached content, including texts, images, videos and sound files. It is also unaccepted to infringe on the rights of other parties, including copyrights, commercial brands, intellectual property, professional secrets, privacy rights, personal rights, and representation rights.
Privacy: Signing up for EAS requires providing an e-mail and optional personal data, which are used to verify your right to participate in interactive services. EAS will send e-mails occasional e-mails to users in order to ask for suggestions and feedback. EAS is completely committed to protecting users’ privacy, except in the case of legal orders that compel EAS to reveal specific information.
Procedures:
Violating abovementioned terms will result in the suspension of membership, either temporarily or permanently. EAS maintains the right to suspend membership at any time.
Opening a new account under a different username is a fraudulent action that could result in permanent termination. EAS is not required to post every contribution and maintains the right to exclude participation that it sees as needing elimination without justification. The website manager has the authority to decide on propriety.
